Job Description:
Westat is currently seeking an individual with extensive experience to work in Ethiopia on a 5-year project to strengthen the Ethiopian civil society organizations’ (CSOs) abilities to support the HIV/AIDS epidemic at the community, district, and regional levels.
Responsibilities include developing and implementing systems to manage information on CSO performance; developing and implementing a process for regular submission of CSO performance data; supporting development of systems for referral monitoring and tracking; managing external quality assurance activities (such as customer satisfaction surveys and spot checks of provider knowledge); developing tools to assure the quality of data reported by CSOs and developing training in these tools; conducting periodic external data quality assurance; participating in the analysis of CSO performance data; developing and managing the program’s performance monitoring plan and reporting; and assisting in developing and providing training to CSO and government staff at Kebele, Woreda, and regional levels.

Requirements:
An advanced degree in public health, epidemiology, or a related field with at least 7 years of experience dealing with public health issues in Ethiopia, including supporting community responses to HIV/AIDS, is required. The candidate must have experience in the above-noted responsibilities, as well as working with CSO and government staff at various levels in the analysis and use of data for performance assessment and planning. This position will located in a project office in Addis Ababa beginning August 2009 and will require travel throughout Ethiopia. Resumes must be submitted in English.
